چکیده
Background : Coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19) is caused by (SARS-CoV-2) a novel highly transmissible pandemic disease. It was noticed that there were many cases of acute salivary sialadenitis in the era COVID -19 and not enough studies documented. This study aimed to assess if correlation between assessed saliva PCR as an easy diagnostic test for also compared it with gold standard nasopharyngeal swab PCR. Methods: A non-random observational included 30 patients who had onset sialadenitis. They all underwent oropharyngeal, parotid submandibular glands examination. Nasopharyngeal diagnosis done. Other lab investigations CRP, D.Dimer, S.Ferritin, chest CT detection Results: The sample collected showed; 21 (70%) unilateral sialadenitis, 4(13.3%) them parotitis on same side, 20(66.7%) tonsillopharyngitis, 23(76.6%) smell disorders 18(60%) taste disorders. In 66.7%; positive COVID-19 53.3 % swap COVID-19. As regards D. Dimer, S. Ferritin CRP; elevated values 43.3%, 40% 90% respectively. Conclusion: Salivary gland inflammation considered extra-pulmonary manifestation SARS-COV-2. Diagnosis can be done

Background and Aim: Delayed detection of SARS-CoV-2 has been a major hindrance in curbing the current COVID-19 pandemic. Wide spread testing is the most practical way out of the current crisis. The current gold standard for COVID-19 diagnosis is real-time reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) detection of SARS-CoV-2 from nasopharyngeal swabs.
